BUILDING WITH WASTE

Monday 31st October 2005

The Building Centre, London

Speakers at the Designplus ‘Building with Waste’ Seminar held on 31st October at The Building Centre, included Jakki Dehn (Kingston University), Jim Roddis (Sheffield Hallam University), Jim Wiltshire (WRAP) and Susan Venner (Architect and Consultant). The panel considered the aesthetic, economic and manufacturing potential of building materials made from waste, as well as the practicalities of specifying requirements for higher recycled content construction products.

Delegates were able to examine and discuss a substantial collection of building materials that have a high recycled materials content. These had been collected as part of Kingston University’s Creative Resource project – a 3 year research project examining the sustainable development of materials and the design process.
