Designplus at Microsoft’s UK HQ

Designplus’s Programme Director, Stephen Green will be speaking at the Microsoft Campus in Reading on 13 April at an event entitled 'Entrepreneurship for STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in an entrepreneurial world'.
STEM subjects are becoming widely recognised as fundamental foundations of knowledge for developed societies. Therefore the relative strength of a nation’s STEM capability is an indicator of economic sustainability. In the design field there has been much debate about whether design should rightly be considered a STEM subject on the basis of its important role in adding value to economies and the subject’s close interrelationship with the core STEM subjects.
The Microsoft hosted event links STEM with entrepreneurship, which fits very well with Designplus’ interests in enhancing enterprise through design. Our recently completed report: Enhancing Enterprise in Design Major projects is available to download and includes many highly practical recommendations for how enterprise combined with design can be enhanced within higher education. Stephen’s talk will expand on this work to demonstrate how design itself is a great catalyst for enterprise and entrepreneurship in organisations of all kinds.
Anyone interested in the event at the Microsoft Campus can access details and register online via the event page on the Higher Education Entrepreneurship Group (HEEG) website
