Hot House: Cyclist Safety
One of a number of project opportunities arising from the Designplus Ageing and Design event held in July. Hothouse is a well established design consultancy based in London with clients including:BAe/Precision Optical, Kimberly-Clark, Philips, Procter & Gamble and Quantel. One of the partners, Neville Pryke, was very keen to explore ways to work with Brunel Design Students, and although not directly related to the subject of Ageing and Design, there was a good fit of interests and experience with one of the final year design students at Brunel, looking at safety for cyclists. One of the areas of discussion at the Ageing and Design event was issues around older people, cycling and individual mobility and a wide range of challenges this presents. This theme has been developed both with this project with Hothouse and with a number of projects with Camden Council. Collectively these cycle based projects will form a significant area of interest at the MADE IN BRUNEL exhibition of student work in London in June.
