Kirton Healthcare: Sensory Learning
Kirton Healthcare attended the Designplus Ageing and Design event and struck up a dialogue with Eleanor Rogers, a design student interested in inclusive design focused Major Project opportunities. This resulted in the Eleanor working with Kirton Healthcare to explore concepts for sensory learning in the special needs environment. Kirton Healthcare have considerable experience in this sector, but are interested in concepts which may have a broader application, for example in mainstream schools and colleges. The results of the collaboration were exhibited to the public at the annual MADE IN BRUNEL exhibition in June 2010.
Kirton Healthcare’s initial link with Brunel was through the Design Council's 'Design Bugs Out' initiative in which a team including Kirton Healthcare, Brunel University and design company Pearson Lloyd developed highly acclaimed prototypes of an innovative commode and a patient chair.
